Alex Kidd: Sega Video Games’ Original Mascot

Everyone associates Sega video games with Sonic the Hedgehog. After all, this is Sega’s most popular intellectual property, and games featuring this character have sold tens of millions of units worldwide.
However, even before Sonic, Sega knew that they needed a character and a game to compete with Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. Their first attempt resulted in the character Alex Kidd.
Alex Kidd is an interesting character. Designed as a short and square bodied boy, complete with monkey ears and a Beatles-like mop hairstyle, Alex was the polar opposite of the game mascots that we know today.
In Sega’s universe, he was an orphan prince from a fictional world. His original backstory had him fighting off against a tyrant who had grasped control of the land.

Nintendo Video Games – The Classic Super Mario Bros. Makes Come Back

In evaluating Nintendo Video Games, you will find that the classic Super Mario Bros. game that originated in the year 1985 is, by far, the absolute best. In fact, it has such a high level of respect among retro gamers and collectors that many are now purchasing the Retro Duo Portable NES/SNES Game System at Think Geek or the NES Retro Entertainment System from Amazon in order to play their favorite Nintendo Video Games from the 1980s and 1990s. Super Mario Bros. was officially published by Nintendo as a type of sequel to the game in 1983, Mario Bros. Originally released in Japan in September of 1985, it finally made its way to North America in May of 1987. Despite being dubbed as the first of the Super Mario games series, gaming enthusiasts consider it to be, by far, the absolute best as far as storyline, entertainment, and gameplay.

Beating Piracy by Taking Advantage of Video Game Sales

Pirating video games sure is tempting nowadays. Why buy a $60 video game if you can just download it instead? Back in the 90s and early 2000s before online multiplayer gaming was mainstream, pirating a game pretty much gave you the full experience. Of course, it is the immoral thing to do because supporting developers help them stay in business and continue to make great games. But if you have difficulty shaking off that pirating habit, don’t worry because buying a game nowadays is more beneficial now and thanks to video game sales, you don’t have to spend a fortune on amassing a nice collection of good video games.
